Mom Uniform: Yoga Pants Review

My first round of postpartum clothes are finally starting to get baggy on me (thanks to breastfeeding twins and getting the life sucked out of me) so it’s time to stock up on my mom uniform: the trusty legging.  I want something that runs true to size, will fit me now and when I start working out and really get fit again, something that feels like lululemon with a better price point, and something I can order online because I do not have time or energy to run to the mall to try on clothes for myself.  I was searching Amazon and found this line: Core 10.  I used Prime Wardrobe to try it (you can try out up to 8 clothing items at once for up to a week and not pay for anything unless you keep it) and bought a few more.  All in all I purchased about 11 pairs of yoga pants and picked out my favorite ones to share with you.  I am wearing a size small in everything and I’m about a size 4 right now.  Here goes:

Hole-y Hallelujah: The Rebel Legging – $59

I LOVE this one!  It’s just a different spin on the regular yoga pant with the holes.  The “rips” feel sturdy – like you won’t stick your toe in in accidentally and rip it apart – and look super cute.  I’m wearing a small and they feel like they suck me in, have the perfect high rise, and I don’t feel like I’m suffocating.  They come in plus sizes, too, and are on sale for $10 off right now.  They look just like these Alo Yoga leggings but for less than half the price!

Tee Shirt: $20 (I’m wearing a medium)

You Deserve IT: Blue Lattice Leggings – $39

I still can’t believe these are only $39!  That’s why I got them in blue, I felt like I could go out on a limb with the color because they are so affordable!  They also come in black and pink.  The 7/8 length is in between a capri and a full pant – this is probably my favorite length.  The lattice work doesn’t dig into your calves and they still have that “hold-you-in” feel.  Or you could spend 150% more and get these Alo Yoga ones.

Basic 7/8 Tried and True -$65

These are a wardrobe staple with a twist: you can build your own!  Choose your waist (cross, medium or high), and choose your fit (regular or plus).  I chose a high waist with a regular fit in a small.  They have a pocket in the back for your credit card/lipgloss duo, too.  Sorry, no pocket for your cell phone, but that’s why you buy this cross-body cell phone holder.

Watch Out For Me! Race Stripes Leggings – $69

I feel super cute in this style: there’s a white stripe next to a gray stripe that are surprisingly slimming on the hips.  This racer stripe makes me feel like I want to work out but really I’m just going to play with babies in my house all day, but hey, it never hurt to mix up the standard black yoga pant a little bit – especially at this price.

Mesh It Up Legging – $69

I was feeling very Yeezy-inspired when I chose this color.  And although I wish I would’ve chosen the black option I love that there’s four color options to choose from.  Not only that, they also come in plus size.  The fit is great, they look sexy, they are a new spin on the basic black yoga pant and they are a GREAT price point.  Good luck finding these at a better price in this quality.

The Ultimate Faux Leather Leggings – $98

I LA-LA-LA-LOVE these leggings!  I feel like I can go clubbing in them (I never want to do that though!), work out in them, or – let’s be real – just run around my house in them feeling like a million bucks.  These are Spanx and they surely do what Spanx are supposed to do, I kinda had to pour my body into these.  I got them in a small and I could easily wear a medium so size up unless you want to be very compressed.  The rise is a little higher than a regular high rise so it hold you in better.  They are incredibly lightweight and have so much movement, almost like you’re naked!  I think I want these in every style!  $98 is more of a Lulu type of pricing but worth it.

Set of two jersey tank-tops: $20 (I’m wearing a medium)

The Forgiver – Cross-waist 7/8 – $65

I was excited to choose a different type of waist when I built my own leggings so this time I chose the cross-waist and let me tell you, I won’t ever look back!  These are probably my favorite pair on this list!  These are kind of a higher rise and are so incredibly forgiving.  At $65 I’m going to live in this style.  They come in plus size, too!  Make sure to choose the cross-waist style!

Move Over, Mama! Moto Leggings – $69

Va-va-voom!  These act like regular leggings but look like expensive knit pants with leather accents.  When I tried them on I couldn’t even feel the shiny black leather-looking accents and I was pleasantly surprised when I looked down – I felt like a little bit of a rockstar without even trying!  These bad boys also come in plus sizes!

You’re a Star! Reflective active yoga pants – $79

These look like the pic in the right but reflect like the pic in the left (with a flash on a camera or headlights on a car).  These feel more like a performance yoga pant, like I can actually go for a run in them on a hot day and not die of leg heat.  But for right now I’m using them as part of my mom uniform so expect to only see them as the photo in the right shows, with no reflection.  And I love that about them, they have these cute little gray stars on them that make the regular black yoga pant just a tad fancier.

  1. MKE, I’m so glad you’ve stayed grounded and understand what REGULAR people can afford! Thanks for showing what these look like on; we are about the same height and I hate getting leggings that are too short. Saving this post to come back to in a couple of months!

  2. Meghan,
Love this post, I follow your lists on amazon regularly. I was hoping you could do a post on bras after birth? Not just nursing bras, but something flattering for those milk-engorged postpartum boobs. Second baby, and I have yet to find a SUNGLE bra I like!
    Sending out an SOS,
    Kristin

  3. Not sure how I feel about the ones with the rips… even though you say they’re sturdy I have a bad feeling they would end up “giving way” eventually and you’d wind up with some destroyed leggings. Regardless, love all your outfits! 😍

  4. Great choice! you should check out Climawear as well. I use their Yoga pants and they are awesome. Comfort and style in one.
